  • YOUNG YOUTH OF THE YEAR

LIONS ZONE 12 Clubs (Casterton, Coleraine, Balmoral and Merino-Digby) conducted an inaugural Young Youth of the Year Public Speaking Competition in 2014. Five of the six primary schools (representing the Lions Clubs of Balmoral, Casterton and Coleraine) participated in preliminary rounds at their local schools to determine the five best performing students. Top performers for Casterton were Lachlan Shepphard (Casterton Primary School) and Maeve Elshaug Betson (Sacred Heart Primary School).

The Zone Final held at Coleraine produced a very high standard of public speaking from young children and was won by Jordyn Templeton from Coleraine Primary School. Congratulations Jordyn

    PEACE POSTER CONTEST
Sophie Twardowski's District winning poster entry went on to win the Lions Australia National Contest award and then on to the USA for the International judging. Unfortunately Sophie didn't receive one of the International awards but I can assure you it was up there with the best of them.
Considering that the contest receives some 350'000 entries each year -- what a wonderful effort to reach the final judging.
Sophie's National Award trophywas presented by the District Governor at a Casterton Lions Club dinner.
